Slade Gardens event raises £2k

Last Saturday’s Winter Fair and Makers’ Market at Slade Gardens raised an impressive £2k to help maintain the playground, despite weather that threatened to blow down the welcoming marquee set up for the occasion.

Santa was definitely the main attraction, playing ho-ho-host to queues of excited children in a grotto usually reserved for the resident bees.

The Angora bunnies acted as an even fluffier lure. Their festive collars were vital in indicating to petters which end they were stroking.

The gardens themselves looked like a winter wonderland, decked out with fairy lights, a Christmas tree and a fire-pit.

Well done and thanks to the dedicated troops at Slade Gardens Community Play Association for organising the event and keeping the Gardens going!
