Few locations say “Brixton” with more emphasis than Railton Road.
From posh Poets Corner to the heart of the 1981 Brixton Uprising, and now the centre of an LTN, it has seen local life in all its wide-ranging variety.
To find out a lot more about one of the most influential and interesting roads in London, book now for a Brixton Society talk in Brixton library on Thursday 19 June by writer and Lambeth Tour Guide Nikky Cato, who was also the Blog’s Miss South food editor.
Railton Road: Lifeline of Brixton and Beyond is based on research and accounts from people who have lived or worked around Railton Road over 70 years.
A former chair of Brixton Advice Centre, working at its office – once the premises of the Race Today collective on Railton Road – brought about Nikky’s interest in exploring the history of the road.
She also runs the popular Instagram account #southlondontoday.
Go to the talk to share your own stories and memories of Railton Road.
