On Thursday 12 June Studio 73 will be opening the doors to a brand new exhibition featuring the work of local artist, Marie Lenclos.
This will be Marie’s third show with Studio 73, but at their new home on Valentia Place.
The exhibition, entitled Brixton Paintings, features 12 new oil paintings depicting the area that has been Marie’s home for close to 30 years.
Marie is drawn to the architecture of London, the quirks, the shadows, the colours, the line and the form.
She said ‘As a documentary filmmaker, I got used to ‘framing’ things, even without a camera. I’d be walking around and suddenly see something and think: ‘this would make a good shot’. Now I see something and think: ‘there is a painting in this’.
Keep an eye for announcements nearer the middle weekend of the show – 21 & 22 June – as Studio73 will be hosting an artist’s Q&A.
