Portraits and stories of members and descendants of the Windrush Generation that were first seen in Brixton’s Windrush Square and which now feature at the centre of the Westminster headquarters of the Home Office, were visited by local MPs and senior council members.

They joined Ros Griffiths, chair of the Friends of Windrush Square and founder of Windrush Untold Stories. The exhibition combines images by photographer Amit Lennon with audio interviews with the subjects.
The images were printed by Photofusion in Brixton and the producer of the entire ensemble was the Empathy Museum. Other collaborators were the Black Cultural Archives and Brixton-based community networking organisation Born or Made. The Windrush Square exhibition was mounted in co-operation with Lambeth council.
A special licensing deal means that every one of the 50,000 employees of the Home Office have the opportunity to listen to the stories.
The exhibition, which gained unwelcome publicity as a result of physical attacks on it in Windrush Square and the police response to this, is expected to appear in other significant places after the Home Office.
