Legendary patties
Chef/owner Stafford Geohagen and his wife Rose are to Market Row what Brian Danclair is to the Village. Their family favourite Healthy Eaters comprises two adjacent outlets: a restaurant serving homely Jamaican dishes and comforting soups, and a takeaway, where they also produce hard their legendary patties: six delicious fillings from lamb to callaloo, encased in sunshine yellow flaky pastry. Stafford and Rose pride themselves most on their signature dish, jerk chicken, which they cook authentically on a charcoal jerk drum. The recipe has been handed down through the generations, so they could tell you how it’s made but then they’d have to kill you. There are lots of other options on the menu, including vegetarian and vegan. The vibe is relaxed. There is reggae – and, naturally, rum.
