Friends of Max Roach Park are planning an evening of hands-on work in their continuing campaign to revive the green space along Brixton Road immediately north of the town centre.

From 7 to 8pm on Tuesday (25 November) local residents will be joined by volunteers from Good Gym and Father Nature to plant bulbs that will flower in spring and to clear weeds around the developing lavender maze in the park.

Tools will be provided. Yes, it will be dark, so bring headtorches, also tools, kneeling pads and gardening gloves, if you have them.

The Met Office forecast for Tuesday evening in Brixton is for temperatures of around 5 to 6 centigrade and a less than 5% chance of rain.

This is the friends’ first community volunteering session following their launch meeting which followed several planning sessions at the headquarters of Football Beyond Borders in Angel Town.
