
Whatever the weather, the carved vegetable competition is always a highpoint of the Lambeth Country Show – and this year is no exception.
Brockwell Park itself naturally features in more than one entry, with vegetables taking issue over the use of the park for Brockwell Live events.
You need a good grasp of popular culture to keep up – with sculptures inspired by the Kendrick Lamar/Drake feud, Kneecap’s appearance in the park at Wide Awake, and Lorde’s pelmet dress at the Met Gala.
There are some old favourite subjects like Only Fools and Horses and Twin Peaks, and baroque creations inspired by the Papal Conclave.
A group of pupils from Rosendale primary broke with tradition by representing themselves in the long-running competition organised by the Lambeth Horticultural Society.
