So so happy bout time theres some decent shops around there now i dnt have to walk all the way to main Brixton i can get my weekly shop just 5 mins away i hope its a big one!!
Good news for Brixtonites and Bad news for the corner shops
Today is the last day to email Lambeth Licensing to get something out of Sainsburys for the local area. More details here

there’s a sainsbury’s just up the road from carpetright and the local shops will go out of business this is insane and needs to stop. A primark or DIY store would be way better
Just spoken to Carpet Right and the deal is definitely going ahead.
This monoculture of overpriced over-packaged generic crap is a cancer. There are far too many of these awful stores in the area. there are four Sainsubry stores between Streatham Hill and Brixton. What will happen to the local traders- the business folk who live, trade and spend locally? Well, surprise surprise, they will be strangled out of existence and the these parasites will crank their prices up because they are the only show in town. Disgraceful decision by Lambeth, sneaky planning application by the corporate scum. I don’t shop at these places because there are great food shops that sell good quality food at competitive prices. Sainsbury and Tesco, want all the profits and all the trade. Very bad news for the area.
If this was a proper Sainsbury’s store then that would be a great addition to the area, I use the one in Balham and its soooo much better than the Tesco’s in Brixton. But alas I think the space will only allow for an express type store so not much interest really
What a shame for the local shops along Tulse Hill, this will ruin their trade. There’s a Local store 2 mins away?!? Also what will this do to local traffic etc?
Is there going to be a public consultation process (for what it’s worth) on this to be able to find out more? Surely a part of any planning process? As a local resident we’ve had nothing through our postbox about this?
0.3 miles/~50 secs for Michael Johnson/5 minutes walk from the existing Sainsbury’s on Brixton Hill. It’s beyond time that the council started weighing diversity more strongly in their planning decisions.
Where will Brixtonites buy their carpet now?
