
If you have never tried doubles – the Trinidad and Tobago street food of Indo-Trinbagonian origin – you can put that right in Brixton on Sunday 1 June at Hootananny.
The Just Vibez family is having a Trinidad and Tobago street food competition as part of a carnival day party with six of the best doubles specialists from across the UK representing Trinidad, Guyana and the UK competing for the Doubles and Vibez Trophy.
There will also competitions for “who can eat the hottest pepper?” and, if there are entries “who can eat the most doubles?”
Kids and adults are welcome to join and will be able to vote for their favourite version of doubles.
There will be family and kids’ activities, DJs, steel pan and dance competitions…
Noon – 4pm Family vibez, kids welcome, Caribbean music, All4’s cards, dominos and family activities … facepainting, kids’ games, Caribbean dance, Caribbean colouring corner, Black history books stall.
4pm – 7pm Big people party! Soca, dancehall, chutney, and more!
