A serving police officer, constable Gary Knight, 37, attached to Lambeth borough, was today (24 June) charged with common assault and actual bodily harm.
The charge followed an investigation by the Metropolitan Police directorate of professional standards into allegations made following the arrest of a suspect on Saturday 30 January in Brixton Road.
Knight will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 7 July.
He is currently on restricted duties.
