Brockwell Live community meeting, Tuesday, 7 October 2025
The Blog was present at the first of two community meetings held yesterday, when Brockwell Live – the promoters of five music events in Brockwell Park – met local residents and community interest groups. About 30 people were at the 4.30pm meeting, including representatives from Brockwell Live.
Brockwell Live is also crucial for the much-loved Lambeth Country Show, which uses facilities and infrastructure from the preceding five events to save Lambeth council a significant sum. The company operates in partnership with the council; however, no representatives from the council were present at the meeting.
Festivals already in the diary for May and June 2026 are: Wide Awake, Field Day, Cross the Tracks, Brockwell Bounce (free festival for kids), and Mighty Hoopla followed by the Lambeth Country Show. Tickets for Cross the Tracks are already being promoted.
This year’s events were subject to major legal battles between Lambeth council and a local group, Protect Brockwell Park, which opposes large commercial events in the park on environmental and nuisance grounds. Only a week ago, the council was granted leave to appeal against a ruling won by the group that had threatened to stop the events.

The purpose of yesterday’s meetings was to “reflect on the 2025 festival season”, listen to feedback from residents and local community groups, and to identify ways to improve key areas, including traffic and parking, anti-social behaviour and noise, park usage, and community engagement for 2026.
Attendees raised concerns about illegal parking, crowd dispersal, unauthorised street trading, noise levels and acoustics, out-of-hours construction noise, and the improper placement of portable toilets – which were subsequently relocated.
Other issues highlighted were the impact on wildlife and trees, inadequate representation from diverse local communities, slow grass regrowth, lack of transparency in reporting, the need for greater employment opportunities for young people across the borough during events, and the effect of the festival season on local businesses, among others.
Some positive feedback highlighted the improvements made in 2025, particularly the new parking schemes. Attendees also welcomed the use of advanced technology to monitor sound levels to ensure compliance with the licensing agreement.

Among the 30 or so attendees, some expressed fundamental objections to using Brockwell Park for these festivals. However, with Lambeth council having already approved the events scheduled for May and June 2026, it will take further legal action to stop them.
The meeting was intended to explore ways to better involve local communities in shaping future events, ensuring Brockwell Park remains a welcoming space for everyone, Brockwell Live said.
Joe and Emily from Brockwell Live acknowledged there is always room for improvement and said they were open to learning from all feedback received.
