“Brixton Fightback” benefit concert for housing campaigners

Brixton Fightback posterA huge benefit concert is being held in Brixton next week to raise funds for local housing campaigners.

“Brixton Fightback: a benefit for social housing”, organised by Brixton Buzz, will take place on Thursday June 11 at Electric Brixton.

The fundraiser is supporting campaigns such as Save Cressingham Gardens, Guinness Trust ASTs, Save Brixton Arches and Reclaim Brixton, who are fighting against regeneration plans in the area.

Alabama 3 are headlining alongside the Fat White Family and there will be performances from Potent Whisper, Lara Lee, Ese Music and Misty Miller.

Tickets are £15 plus booking fee or £20 on the door on the night.

In a Facebook post Alabama 3 said: “The rising rents and social housing situation, is at crisis point in Brixton. It’s forcing our much loved community out of their homes…Lord knows as musicians, we owe a lot to this place. Brixton’s always been the place that let us be ourselves and from that freedom, a lot grew…We’re feeling a pretty legendary night is at hand, hope to see you there too.”
