Brixton Blog & Bugle Summer Art Show

The ever-popular Brixton Blog & Bugle Summer Art show opens on Monday 30 June in the Brixton Library, Windrush Square. Showcasing the work of almost 70 local artists, the show is a unique way to bring local artists and the local community together.

This is the sixth show and the biggest yet. And it is a testimony to the breadth and depth of creative talent that exists in and round Brixton. You will find paintings, prints, photography, collage, sculpture and more. Familiar scenes of local parks, streets and buildings sit alongside abstract works and personal statements. Together with portraits, humour, political comment and a touch of surrealism, this year’s entry makes for a very diverse range of subjects and techniques.

The show is also an exercise in democracy. The winner is chosen by a people’s ballot. Last year over 1200 people took part in the ballot. This year we hope to do even better.

The show opens on 30 June and runs until 24 July in Brixton’s Tate Library, Windrush Square. Entry is free and the show is open every day in line with library opening hours.
