Love Yourself – pop up show of queer art

On Saturday 19 November, Brixton’s Bureau of Silly Ideas Ltd will host ‘Love Yourself’ – a pop up art exhibition by queer artists from London, the West Country, Europe and Asia. A variety of media and techniques will be on show in some 25 works; all serving to celebrate gay life and culture.

Organised by Stoggaf – the home of gay, queer and fetish art – the exhibition showcases work from four collections.

Cool Queer includes works from Manchester-based queer photographer and visual artist Corey Mullaney and Liverpool-based Severus Heyn, a queer artist and performer, and cofounder of Queer Art Brunch Club and The House of Moustache.

K¡nk explores and celebrates fetish themes in the work of Finnish leather artist Jouni Lepistö, Matthew Dennis from Devon, and Amsterdam’s Unforced Error.

Illustrated includes homoerotic fairytales and illustrations from Keefer Berlin.

Abstract Amsterdam as the name suggests, includes abstract works from Dutch artist Unforced Error.

You should also expect some surprises on the day including a living art showcase.

Artistic Director, Kieran Mason, said:

“Often in the Queer community our sense of being and existence is shamed by feelings of rejection, self-loathing and negativity…..Fuck that! The first step to loving others is to love and be true to yourself. This exhibition is all about rejecting the rejection, the self loathing, and celebrating what makes us special, unique and queer.

Love Yourself  takes place from 10 am to 6pm on Saturday 19 November in the Bureau Of Silly Ideas Ltd., 18 Valentia Place, SW9 8EU.
