London mayor Sadiq Khan has approved plans for a 20-storey tower in Bermondsey after Southwark council rejected proposal for the site it in 2020.

The decision has a bearing on the 10 June hearing on plans for a tower of similar size in the centre of Brixton – which was also “called in” by the mayor – this time after it was approved by Lambeth council.

Southwark councillors said the Bermondsey building would have “excessive height, scale and massing” for its planned site – objections similar to some of those of the opponents of the tower planned for Pope’s Road by the Amsterdam-based AG Hondo Popes Road BV company.
