Xavi Art in Brixton Lounge

New Shapes 2

Xavier Laurent Leopold, known as Xavi Art, is a self taught artist whose vibrant portraiture works are currently on show in the Lounge in central Brixton. Described as “exploring female empowerment, his Sierra Leonean cultural heritage and faith”, the works are bold statements which use a light hearted form to make more serious points.

He has an obvious attachment to cubism which he mixes with more contemporary forms of illustration. The pieces are thoughtful and the images are arresting – with the occasional touch of wit.

The show, part of the Make It in Brixton creative enterprise, is in the Lounge, 58 Atlantic Road, SW9 8PY

Open Monday to Saturday, noon till late.
