Brixton’s Winter Windows light up Ferndale Road

The fifth annual Winter Windows display in Squire & Partners Department Store on Ferndale Road was switched on last night (4 November) to coincide with the Diwali festival of light.

Created with the help of Squires professionals, the designs by Year 6 pupils from the small Reay primary school on Hackford Road between the A3 and A23 Brixton Road are on the theme of Dreamland.

New this year, the displays are in 3D, with flexible plastic tunes full of coloured LED lights supported by a thin steel network.

Brixton Dreamland will be the theme of this year’s Brixton Business Improvement District’s (BID) Winter Festival and Alice in Wonderland will be the first production at the new Brixton House theatre on Coldharbour Lane.

Year 6 teacher Chris Marley was joined by Squires partner Tim Gledstone, teachers, parents and supporters of the school at the switch-on ceremony.
