International Black queer photographer opens studio in Brixton

Amaju, a fine art photographer with over 25 years of experience exhibiting in museums, galleries, and alternative spaces worldwide, has opened an affordable, accessible photographic space for hire in Railton Road.

The studio specialises in Black and LGBTQ + portraits/headshots, fine art nudes and private commissions.

A specialist in Black LGBTQ history, heritage, and queer cultural memory in the UK, Amaju’s work includes portraits and self-portraits, which unapologetically celebrate black queer bodies, the erotic senses, desire and pleasure. 

Amaju said “Lambeth lacks safe spaces and funding opportunities for local Black LGBTQ+ artists, photographers and other creatives. This studio aims to create a much-needed hub for us and address this gap”
