black midi will play the Southbank Centre this autumn as part of a collaboration between the EFG London Jazz Festival and Pitchfork Music Festival.

The art-rock four-piece, who recently released their second album Cavalcade, will be taking over the Queen Elizabeth Hall foyer on 12 November for a Concrete Lates show, with support from poet, musician and activist Moor Mother.

A spokesperson for the festival said, “We’re very happy to be collaborating with Pitchfork Festival for this show in the EFG London Jazz Festival, welcoming back Moor Mother to the festival and entertaining black midi for the first time – it should be a great end to our first night of the ten days we have!”

Last year, black midi were part of a fundraising effort for the Windmill Brixton, teaming up with regular collaborators Black Country, New Road for a livestreamed gig where they performed covers of Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay and Led Zeppelin.

The EFG London Jazz Festival will be running from 12 – 21 November 2021 at music venues including The Barbican, King’s Place and EartH. Other acts on the line-up include Yo La Tengo, saxophonist Archie Shepp and a star-studded celebration of late drummer Tony Allen, curated by Femi Koleoso, Remi Kabaka, Ben Okri and Damon Albarn.
