Striking images from landmark Brixton venues are among many in a project chronicling the effect of lockdowns on London’s music scene.

Photographer Alex Amorós’ 40 Music Venues is a photography project carried out during lockdown 2.0.

“I decided to begin a passion project to depict the regulatory impact on 40 live music venues across London,” he says.

“I have considered it important to publicise the precarious situation in which many industries find themselves.

“The music industry itself not only employs a huge amount of people, but is the heart and soul of London, giving joy to many and bringing people together.”

Alex says his project will support the Save Our Venues campaign. He plans to release a photobook which can be pre-ordered and mount an exhibition.

His website has an extensive selection of his powerful black and white images.

Brixton venues among the 40 subject venues include Windmill Brixton, the 02 Brixton Academy and Electric Brixton.
