Half term fun at Max Roach

It’s been a fun-filled week at Brixton’s Max Roach Centre this half term writes manager Candice James

young child with paintsThe holiday play project benefited 57 children, despite a reduce service.  A free hot meal is served within each session and has been an integral part of the service since 2017.

Candice said: “131 meals have been served to children and parents during the last week. We were pleased to receive donations of packed lunches from local food businesses; Caya Cafe and Brixton Soup Kitchen.”

The children and team at Max RoachMax Roach have been selected for the award of London Adventure Playground of the year 2020 alongside two others including – Triangle Adventure Playground in Lambeth.

young childThe team at Rosebuds Preschool, also based in the Max Roach Centre are finalists for 2020 Nursery World Award 2020 Nursery World Award for community support.

Manager Candice James said: “During these extraordinary times, working with some of the most disadvanged children within our community. Play has been fundamental to children’s recovery from the adverse impact of the pandemic. It’s a wonderful testimony to the staff, volunteers and trustees of Loughborough Community Centre.”
