The second Cross The Tracks one-day festival in Brockwell Park on Sunday 7 June next year is set to repeat last year’s winning mix of jazz, funk, soul and more.

The first acts, announced today (27 November), include:

Sister Sledge – with original lead singer Kathy Sledge

Desert nomad rock from Grammy winners Tinariwen, who began their career in Mali 40 years ago

Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B

BBC 6 host and WorldwideFM founder Gilles Peterson

Legendary soul, funk and dub connoisseur Norman Jay MBE

Berlin-based Nu Guinea, originally from Naples, with a full live band

Long-time dub stars Channel One sound system

Shabaka and the Ancestors

Jazz from Shabaka and the Ancestors, led by London based maestro Shabaka Hutchins

South London vocalist Jaz Karis

R&B from Pip Millet

South London crossover pianist Ashley Henry

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble – a Chicago-based seven-piece formed of sons of trumpeter Phil Cohran – their song War was featured in The Hunger Games film.

As well as great music from legendary names and top talent from the current generation, organisers promise street food from 40 traders and craft beer.

There will also be a “wellness area”, as well as creative markets, a record and art fair, panels, workshops and talks addressing cultural issues with experts in their field.
