Theatre Deli in Camberwell has announced a new comedy festival which will take place at The Old Library in Burgess Park and Theatre Deli Broadgate from 4 to 27 July, writes Ethan Delcroix-Jones.Â
The festival, whose objective is to bring big comedians to small venues, is in its second year with headliners including Suzi Ruffell, Seann Walsh and Rhys James as they prepare for their upcoming Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows.
Performing alongside entertainers already established in the UK comedy scene will be emerging acts from under-represented backgrounds. With various different styles of comedy, people can take their pick from stand-up to sketches to even eco-comedy on the 6 July as the first London Climate Action Week is held from 1 to 8 July.
Organisers say they have “teamed up with the Creation Trust to provide £5 tickets for local residents each night.”
Artistic director, Jessica Brewster said: “We’re delighted to bring back the Deli Comedy Festival for its second year. the jam-packed festival of sneak previews of some of the best comedy that will be appearing at this year’s Edinburgh Festival, both in the heart of the city and the heart of beautiful Burgess Park. As an arts organisation supporting emerging artists as well as established acts, we are offering audiences the opportunity to discover the next generation of comedians alongside familiar faces.”
