Loughborough project exceeds crowdfunding target for summer play

Child on swing at Max Roach ParkLoughborough Community Centre raised £4,625 for a Summer of Play programme at Max Roach through crowdfunding with the Big Summer Give and the The Childhood Trust.  Manager Candice James thanked contributors: “On behalf of all the children and families that are now going to have an amazing summer of play, I would like to thank you ever so much for helping to make this happen.”

The online ‘double your donation’ campaign focussed on charities that support London’s poorest children during the summer holidays.

Donations to the Loughborough Community Centre (LCC) appeal were matched by the Childhood Trust. Candice said the money will be used to enhance children’s skills in music, art, drama, sport, health, nutrition and wellbeing.

“This is the kick start needed towards the crucial funds of £10k for a jammed packed weekly schedule of activities over the summer.”

It was LCCs first attempt at a match funding campaign.

“When we applied back in March, we didn’t even anticipate passing the first stage, yet today we celebrate exceeding our target!”
