Wednesday 15

Windmill

It’s a big night at the Windmill with Frontier Ruckus from Detroit. The long-established US indie four-piece will perform their lyric-based folk rock, with their fifth album Enter The Kingdom just out. It takes listeners into stained American living rooms where dads search for work on Craigslist, drunken ex-spouses return with dubious motives and megachurch rec rooms are marked by lust and disrepair. Songwriter Matthew Milia says the album is a rather literal depiction of his father losing his job and relying on disability cheques to retain a fragile grasp on his childhood home. It’s harrowing, but with a dark and balancing sense of humour, he says.
Support from Moon Panda. 8pm. £9.

And all you have to do is figure out who it is. A thrilling evening of the unexpected, the unbelievable and the partly untrue.
