Two welcomes – to help Syrian refugees

Marhabtayn-Syrian-Supper-Club logo Friends Bashar, Sawsan, Fadi, Bela, Khairun, Eddie and Manar are hosting Marhabtayn – a Syrian Supper Club – at their home in Brixton to raise funds for refugees.

Marhabtayn, a traditional Syrian greeting, means “two welcomes” in Arabic.

The friends say the club will be “a night of fabulous Syrian food and music in a South London home and garden and a chance to find out about Syrian culture and society and to show solidarity with the Syrian people”.

The first event is on Friday 15 July from 7pm. All money raised will go to individual Syrians who are still in Syria, or in the host countries of Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey, who are in need of medical care, assistance to re-start their lives, or for legal costs.

The friends hope to host a bigger event in October.
