Brixton barrow restoration under way

Brixton Market traders have raised £3,855 through their Crowdfunder campaign to restore the market’s historic barrows.

A carpenter is now installed in a specially created workshop under the railway arches on Station Road and the first barrows are being restored.

“If you happen to be in the area, pop by the workshop to see how things are going and say hello,” said Stuart Horwood, CEO of Brixton Market Traders’ Federation.

The restored barrows will be launched at an event on Thursday 15 September which will be a chance to see the finished barrows up close and for the traders to thank backers for their support and contributions.
