Brixton’s Serefina ‘swears’ to raise over £1,000 for charity

Serefina Taylor with swear balloonSerefina Taylor, from Brixton, along with friend Jo and boyfriend Wulf all gave something up for the month of April to raise money for a charity providing education and healthcare to children in Kenya and Uganda.

Serefina pledged to quit swearing for a month and has so far raised £1009, and rising! The 32-year-old costume maker said: “Swearing is like breathing to me, so it has been a tough challenge so far”.

We’re still getting in the last donations, I reckon we’ll get to around £1,100 before the week is out.” Every swearword costs her £1. Her friend Jo hasn’t worn a dress since 2008, but pledged to wear them every day for a month, including a purple number with tassles on it! Boyfriend Wulf gave up smoking.

The team will throw a ‘thank you’ picnic extravaganza for all their sponsors, which will take place in late May.
