A Metropolitan Police officer who stole bicycles from Brixton police station was today (11 March) sentenced to 18 months’ prison.
Sergeant David Robinson, 36, had pleaded guilty to theft, fraud and misconduct in public office at Southwark Crown Court on 20 January this year.
Sergeant Robinson pleaded guilty to:
- nine counts of theft;
- five counts of fraud;
- two counts of misconduct in public office.
Robinson was arrested on 6 July 2015 after two pedal cycles that had been recovered from a burglary were stolen from Brixton police station.
A search of his home led to the discovery of a number of stolen items, including another pedal cycle and three motorcycles that had been reported missing or stolen.
The officer also had a stolen vehicle and motor vehicle parts.
The commander of the Met’s directorate of professional standards, Matt Gardner, said: “This officer is a disgrace to the hard working, industrious and committed officers and staff who keep Londoners safe, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
Why would a professional police man risk his career and throw everything away for such a stupid action?????? V
