Lambeth College marks LGBT History Month

Lambeth College has done a great deal to celebrate LGBT History Month in February.
The month is an opportunity to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender lives and culture and to recognise the significant contribution LGBT people have made to society.
To launch the month, the college tweeted about Marsha P Jonson, a black trans women who initiated the fightback demonstrations by members of the LGBT community against a police raid that took place on June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, New York.

This was re-tweeted by the national equality campaigning group Stonewall, the largest LGBT rights organisation not only in the UK but also in Europe. Lambeth College also hosted an LGBT conference and saw veteran LGBT campaigner Peter Tatchell visit for a talk.

He spoke to learners about his campaigning experiences and what has been achieved on the road to equality.

The college organised a number of activities including tutorials, a conference, films and more.
The tutorials linked LGBT workplace experiences with various career paths.
