Two charged over Plato Road incident

Scotland Yard signTwo men have been charged after police officers said a car was driven towards them and knives and drugs were seized in Plato Road off Acre Lane on Saturday evening. No officer was injured in the incident.

Jamie Manzi, 22, will appear in custody this morning (11 January) at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court, charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to police officers.

He was also arrested on suspicion of knife and drugs offences and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

A 17-year-old youth was charged with two counts of possessing knives and with possession of cannabis. He was also charged with possessing two police warrant card holders. He has been bailed to appear at court on a date to be confirmed.

A further 17-year-old youth has been bailed to return to a south London police station on a date in mid-March pending further police enquiries.

  1. Finally an arrest, shame it took this incident to get the Police to take notice of what is happening at the top of Plato Road. Residents have been plagued by drug dealers and their hangers on loitering outside the old post office store for months and months.
