Dip in to support the homeless and a chance to fly to New York

Swimmers at Brockwell Lido in support of CrisisHundreds of swimmers in fancy dress will jump into the chilly water at Brockwell Lido at midday on 12 December in support of Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people. Swimmers who take the plunge will be entered into a prize draw. Prizes include 2 Virgin Atlantic tickets to New York City see terms and conditions; a year’s joint membership to Picturehouse Cinemas; £50 voucher to use at the Lido Cafe, two £25 vouchers for Franco Manca.

To be eligible people have to sign up to any of three events by 23 January. Brockwell Lido (12 December), King’s Cross (5 December) and Tooting Lido (23 January).

Crisis Chief Executive Jon Sparkes said: “The situation for homeless people in London is becoming increasingly desperate, with thousands facing the misery and isolation of life on the streets this winter. By taking part in the Crisis Midwinter Swim, Londoners can help us bring someone who is homeless in from the cold and support our year-round services that help people leave homelessness behind for good.”

Entry costs £22.29 and participants will receive a Crisis swimming cap for the occasion and be able to enjoy a warming drink after they brave the waters. Anyone who has raised over £250 by 10 December will automatically win a pair of hand knitted Turkish sons from Lowie.
