New exhibition opening soon at Knight Webb gallery

A new exhibition is opening in November at Knight Webb gallery. ‘Pacific West Abstractions’, a solo show by American artist Karen Silve, is running from 20 November 2015 to 30 January 2016.

Market VIIII by Karen SilveKaren has exhibited throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. In 2014, her work was collected by the new U.S. Consulate in Monterrey, Mexico for their permanent collection. She also recently exhibited in Qatar as part of the Art in Embassies Program.

Described as painting in the spirit of American Abstract Expressionism, Karen’s work embodies spontaneity and passion. Her sense of rhythmic space and volume is shared with artists such as Cecily Brown and Sherie Franssen, and her works are as much about people moving through space interacting with one another or with the environment, as they are about the landscapes structural presence.

“I didn’t want to paint ‘things’ but rather a landscape of actions and feelings, being relaxed, content, inspired and peaceful,” says Karen, “I wanted abstract paintings to be filled with abstract thoughts.”

Knight Webb gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm. Entry is free.
