Police seized a firearm and a number of knives after a weapons sweep in Brixton and the Kennings Way estate.

Officers from Lambeth’s Safer Neighbourhoods Team carried out the search on Tuesday July 21.

They discovered a bag hidden between two walls which contained a firearm and a bullet.

Officers also found two hidden knives after further searches in Brixton.

Inspector Neil Cochlin from Lambeth North Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: “Officers carry out weapon sweeps routinely.

“This successful tactic has led to the removal of a gun and knives off the street. We will continue to work to make Lambeth as safe as possible for residents and visitors.”
