Lambeth council is holding a “Culture 2020 Conversation” to discuss the future of the borough’s parks, libraries and archives on Wednesday, March 18.

From 7 pm to 9 pm at Myatt’s Fields North Community Centre the public will be able to discuss the cultural proposals with Lambeth officers and local councillors.

The event is free but those wishing to attend must register online here.

Lambeth council has launched a consultation on Cultural Services by 2020.

The proposals include selling Minet and Waterloo libraries, moving the Lambeth Archives to Brixton Library, ending funding to Durning, Carnegie and Upper Norwood Libraries next year and allowing Picturehose to take over West Norwood Library.

Myatt’s Fields Park budget will be cut by 50 per cent from 2016.

Friends of Lambeth Libraries have called the council’s plans “totally flawed”.

Cllr Jane Edbrooke, cabinet member for neighbourhoods said: “selling Minet and Waterloo libraries will give us a pot of money to support community libraries so this is an opportunity to be bold with ideas whether that’s going digital or sharing space to generate income.”
