Dominant Dulwich Hamlet maintained their impressive winning streak with a 2-1 victory over Billericay Town. The in-form South London side, who were on a ten-game unbeaten run, fought back after going one-nil down to their non-league rivals. The Pink and Blues, who have gone 11 games undefeated, are currently four points off top spot in the Ryman Premier division.

Billericay, coached by former Hamlet supremo Craig Edwards, began the game brightly at Champion Hill yesterday. The Essex-based Blues took the lead with a well-executed 31st  minute goal from Glenn Poole.

But the home-side, who are currently in contention for a play-off place, hit back with an equaliser shortly before half time. The 45th minute strike from Luke Wanadio was the young winger’s first goal for Hamlet.

Home and away fans were in boisterous mood as both sides sustained high-tempo play throughout the match. The home team secured all three points courtesy of Ashley Carew’s superbly struck free-kick. Hamlet boss Gavin Rose, who won a Manager of the Month award in December, praised Carew’s decisive second half strike.

“We had a good bit of quality with our second goal”, said Rose in a post-match interview with Football Exclusives. “The first goal was a good clean goal. The second one was a good individual goal from Ashley. You need that bit of quality in tight games like this. Our boys did well today and stood up to the battle.”
