Christmas comes early to Brixton Market’s Small Business Saturday

smallbizstBrixton is famous for its vibrant, buzzing markets, selling pretty much anything from avocados to watch straps.

On Small Business Saturday – happening this December 6 – new and long-standing traders will bring fresh products to the market, on what will be the first major trading Saturday in the run-up to Christmas.

Small Business Saturday is a nation-wide initiative that aims to support fledgling small businesses, helping them establish themselves and promote to local shoppers.

This year’s edition in Brixton will see local social entrepreneurs Tree Shepherd supporting twenty businesses with stalls in Brixton Station Road market.

The businesses – fifteen of which are new, and five trading for a year – are all members of the Lambeth Forest Enterprise network, which has supported aspiring business-owners as a route away from benefits.
