It’s been bad news recently for the kind of restaurants in Brixton where you want to linger over a little luxury rather than sit on milk crates and leave after 30 minutes. We’ve waved goodbye to both Bellantoni’s and Upstairs.
Things are about to change though with the arrival of the new pop up restaurant BeeHive Place Bar + Kitchen. Opening on Friday and Saturday nights in an old hay loft, it will feature a modern British 5 course menu each night alongside exciting cocktails and wines.
The menu will change weekly, moving with the seasons and independent suppliers in South London and is priced at £35 per person. Chef Sam Hodges has worked at big name venues such as St John and Soho House and is collaborating with Chateau Marmot to bring something to the area between November 14 and March next year.
As well as booking in advance for food, the bar is open from 7pm every night at limited capacity, serving cocktails, local microbrew craft beers from Gipsy Hill and even British wines. DJs will play their finest vinyl from 10pm and it will be a great chance to revisit the venue of the old Brixtonian Havana Club for those who remember it first time round. There’s also the chance to see their collaborations with community organisations like Brixton People’s Kitchen and up and coming British artists.
