WOMEN IN ACTIVISM – OWAAD AT 35
Sunday 7 November, 12-6pm
OWAAD was one of the first organised women’s group set up to campaign for social justice and equal rights. Unpack the past and examine the active role of OWAAD, the lives of Black women during the 1970s and 1980s, their stories of heroism and their legacy for women’s activism today. LEN GARRISON MEMORIAL LECTURE
Thursday 16 October, 7pm – 9.30pm
In memory of our co-founding member Len Garrison, this annual lecture celebrates the life of an extraordinary advocate for children’s education. Tickets: £20/£15 concessions, includes light refreshments.

RE-IMAGINE EXHIBITION TOUR
Tuesday 14 October, 1pm
Guided by our exhibition curator learn more about the pioneering narratives of women featured in Re-imagine: Black Women in Britain. Tickets: £5/£3 concessions

LUNCHTIME TALKS
Fridays 17 and 24 October, 1pm
A series of lunchtime talks from inspirational women discussing the legacy and contributions of Black women in Britain. Tickets: £5/£3 concessions.

SILVER DIAMONDS: ELDERS TAKEOVER
Thursday 23 October, 1.30pm – 4pm
Elders are invited to share their stories and experiences reflecting on earlier times of social change and activism, and as a response create a group calypso with Alexander D. Great. This workshop will explore the lives of revolutionary women such as Olive Morris spotlighted in the current exhibition, Re-imagine: Black Women in Britain. Tickets: £7.

WORLD AUDIO-VISUAL HERITAGE COMMUNITY DAY
Sunday 26 October, 12pm – 6pm
World Audio-Visual Heritage Day raises the awareness of the significance of preserving audiovisual documentation, such as films, video recordings, oral histories, radio and television programmes and photographs. Join us for a series of workshops with our experts and learn how to record, film and photograph others, preserve your personal memories, and view rare film footage, and listen to recordings held within our archive. Tickets: £25/£20 concessions.

OPEN MIND, OPEN LIVES
Thursday 30 October, 1.30pm – 4pm
Explore the lives of three women from the 15th and 16th centuries, who were almost written out of history. In a creative workshop, devise a group monologue of a re-imagined woman today. This workshop is especially for mental health users and carers. Tickets: £7.
