SHOOTING: Two shots were reportedly fired near the Leander Road entrance to Tulse Hill Estate

Three men were taken to hospital on Saturday after a shooting on Tulse Hill Estate.

Residents reported hearing two gun shots at about 9pm, before seeing police officers arrive near to the Leander Road entrance to the estate.

Police say three men, aged in their teens or early 20s, were taken to hospital for treatment to gunshot wounds. None of the injuries were reported to be life threatening.

Resident Tom Lowenstein said on Twitter: “That sounded like a gun going off on Tulse Hill, #Brixton. Maybe wrong but a lot of police heading towards it.”

Another resident, added: “It was a shotgun, two shots fired, three injured. Three victims but will never reach the news.”

Officers from the Trident Gang Crime Command are investigating the shooting, and no arrests have been made.

Officers are keeping an open mind into whether this is gang related.

Detective Inspector Danny Gosling, of the Trident Gang Crime Command, said: “When the shooting happened, lots of people would have been outside enjoying the good weather and may have witnessed something.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious before and after the shooting. I’m keen to speak with anyone who may have seen either a Ford Focus or Ford Fiesta speeding away from the area of Leander Road or the Tulse Hill Estate at around 2100hrs on Saturday night. I would appeal to those people to contact us immediately as they may hold key information.

“I have no doubt that this could have resulted in graver injuries as the shots were fired in the direction of the group.

“I would like to reassure the public and residents in the area that we are doing all we can to find those responsible for this incident and bring them to justice.”

  1. That’s our short cut through to Brockwell park.

Sometimes I just despair of this bloody place. Decades of failed education policies, the rabbit-warren social housing, the grinding poverty, the death of all aspiration. Will there be any end to this appalling nihilism?

    • “That’s our short cut through to Brockwell park”

it is most unfortunate that the three victims should be shot in a location that causes you such inconvenience. I suggest that you go via Elm Park and Craignair Road, which will only add 5-6 minutes to your journey .

    • “why do we as londoners tolerate this shit?”

James, it’s probably because you can’t do anything about the Londoners with guns.

  2. Why is this happening , this is not far from where I live my son could have Ben out at that time there bed to be more police presence it’s terrible to say the least I hope they catch the thugs

    • it is certainly fortunate that your son Ben was not present. As these incidents (i.e. shootings) have been taking place in and around Brixton for nearly 30 years, have you considered moving to an area that might be better for Ben?
