A Brixton swimming group jumped at the opportunity to support the Stroke Association’s Know Your Blood Pressure campaign by getting tested in Brockwell Lido.

Brockwell Icicles winter swimmer Katie Kingwell said: “It’s a fun way to raise awareness of a great cause: a stroke can happen at any age, so there really is no excuse not to get yourself checked regularly.”

Deputy director for the Stroke Association in London, Tracy Douthwaite, said: “High blood pressure contributes to about 50 per cent of strokes and is the biggest controllable risk factor for the condition. I have to thank the Brockwell Icicles for being such amazing sports, that water is pretty cold!”
