Popular fashion store Joy to close in Brixton to make way for new Holiday Inn

Screen Shot 2014-01-10 at 15.53.53Popular fashion and gift store Joy is to close on January 22nd after the lease on their Coldharbour Lane has expired.

The shop, which began in Brixton for 15 years and blossomed into a successful chain of stores is looking for a new site in the area but has yet to find one.

The lease has expired because the premises will form part of the entrance of a £4.5million Holiday Inn in the former Woolworths site.

Creative directo Maureen O’Biren said: “Brixton was my first store and definitely my favourite. We opened in 1999, before you could get a decent coffee – how time flies!”

She added: “I can’t thank our Brixton customers enough for their support, humour and energy over the years. Joy wouldn’t be Joy if we had opened anywhere else.”

As a final thank you to its customers, Joy will be holding a sale event in the run up to the closing date.

  1. One can enjoy reliable, clean and free power for years
with low maintenance costs. If it was not for the functionality and reliability of vortex tubes, spot-cooling can be insanely complicated and expensive for these operations.

The cooling systems trap, harm and kill fish, larvae, plankton and marine
    mammals.

  2. I was suggested this blog by my cousin. I am not
sure whether this post is written by him as no one else know
such detailed about my problem. You are wonderful! Thanks!
