Last chance for residents to have their say on 40-flat development at Canterbury Arms pub, Brixton

Developers are seeking the views of local residents ahead of submitting their final planning application for a nine-story block of flats to replace a central Brixton pub.

Plans for the demolition and redevelopment of the Canterbury Arms were unveiled on 27 June. The plans include 40 residential units and a community use function on the ground floor.

The plans represent the first phase of wider development around Pope’s Road, which include International House and the temporary ice skating rink.

In a letter to Brixton Blog, developers May Developments said ” “Once the adjoining sites are brought forward by the council, it will form part of a coherent new mixed-use area. It is intended that our scheme will also help to improve community safety and make Canterbury Crescent and the link through to the Rec and market more welcoming for pedestrians.”
