Police dealt with an incident in which a stone was thrown through the window of Brixton Mosque, in Gresham Road.

Officers were called just after 3am yesterday  to reports of “minor damage to a door and a stone thrown through a window.”

Police are continuing to investigate the crime, but no-one has yet been arrested.

A police spokesperson said: “Lambeth Police met with the Iman and other faith and community representatives last week and continue to liaise with the mosque during the investigation of this crime.”

  1. Would it be possible to get an interview with someone from the mosque? I’d be really interested to hear about how they are dealing with this incident and how it affects their sense of being part of the local community, but also whether they have had any positive support locally as well? I’m really keen to show my support to Brixton’s various Muslim communities but as a non-Muslim I’d like their thoughts on how I can best do this.

    • Hi Linda, yes it would be great. We’ve been talking to someone by email tonight, and hopefully will be able to speak to someone in person tomorrow and get something online tomorrow evening.
