Two men have been arrested in connection with a double shooting in Loughborough Junction which left one victim dead.

Jerome Edwards, 23, from Catford, died after being shot in the head at a party in a flat in Southwell Road at 4.50am on Sunday. A second man, aged 21, was treated in hospital after being shot in the ankle in the street outside.

Last night detectives detained two men over the shootings, both in their early 20s. One was arrested on suspicion of murder; the other was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Both remain in custody  as enquiries continue.

An incident room has opened at Lewisham under Detective Chief Inspector
Glen Lloyd from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command (HSCC) and
officers are appealing for witnesses and information.

DCI Lloyd said: “We are trying to piece together the circumstances
around both incidents. We believe there could have been anything up to
100 people at the party and I am keen to speak to anyone who was inside
the flat in Southwell Road; anyone who was in the street outside or
anyone who was driving in the area after 4am on Sunday morning.”

Any witnesses or anyone with any information are asked to contact the
incident room on 020 8721 4906 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800
555 111.
