The weekend ahead in Brixton

They’ve forecast apocalyptic snow this weekend, but nothing stops Liz Marvin sending us her round-up of the weekend ahead.

Apologies to anyone who wasn’t a teenage girl in the ‘90s, but this weekend is going to be, like, totally ragin’ – Clueless is on at the Ritzy! This majorly awesome film is showing late on Friday, so ask Daddy if you can stay out past curfew. I’m SO there.

It’s going to be freakin’ freezin’ this weekend, but if you think you’re tough enough why not support your local football team, as they take on someone else’s. Dulwich Hamlet (so called because they smoke cigars at half time)  are in fact playing my home town’s team Maidstone at Champion Hill on Saturday, should the pitch not be snow-covered. I would say I feel highly divided loyalties but as I could give a flying frig about football, I’ll just say I hope everyone plays nicely and enjoys themselves.

Who are these two Baldwins? It’s Danny McLewin and Tom Coveney, who make up the duo Psychemagik. Named Mixmag’s ‘Star of the Year’ in 2012, and renowned for their vast and eclectic vinyl collection, they’re heading up a night of house and techno at the Jamm on Saturday night in celebration of Read the Crowd’s ninth birthday. Sounds almost as good as a computerised revolving wardrobe.  Free entry before 10.00pm, £8 advance tickets, £10 on the door.
