Free Buster Keaton film to celebrate Herne Hill station’s big day

BIRTHDAY: Film screening will celebrate 150yrs

Cinephiles can celebrate the 150th birthday of Herne Hill rail station with a free outdoor film screening.

Herne Hill forum, together with Free Film Festivals, will project the 1920 silent movie The General, staring Buster Keaton, onto the wall of the iconic station on Saturday September 8 at 8pm. The film will be accompanied by renowned pianist Neil Brand.

Sunday (September 9) will also see the official launch of Herne Hill’s weekly market, in Railton Road.  As well as the usual stall expect live music, face painting and even a climbing wall.

The station celebrated its birthday on August 25 with a toast to its 150 years and a guided tour by Robert Holden of the Herne Hill Society.
