Manchester police on the streets of Brixton

Greater Manchester Police in Windrush Square today

Police officers from Greater Manchester are patrolling the streets of Brixton today.

The Brixton Blog saw this police van parked on Windrush Square this afternoon, and constables with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) emblazoned on their uniform.

The move is thought to be due to the Olympic Games, which begin in just a few days time.

The sight of police teams from outside London is reminiscent of the period shortly after the riots last August, when thousands of police from around the UK came to London to help keep order.

How do you feel about external police forces keeping order in Brixton and Lambeth? Does it make you feel safer? Leave a comment below.
