Gang violence will again be the focus for a public policing forum when members come together at Lambeth Town Hall, Brixton, tonight.

The Community Police Consultative Group (CPCG) is a chance for the public to ask Lambeth police chief Matt Bell and other senior Metropolitan Police officers questions about their work.

Tonight Cllr Jack Hopkins, newly appointed cabinet member for community safety, will introduce himself and a member of Trident Gang Command will also be on hand. As usual the borough commander, Matt Bell, will give a presentation. The agenda and more information is available here.

Last month more than 50 people packed into the Old Library, West Norwood for an emotionally charged meeting days after the murder of 17-year-old Kwame Ofosu-Asare on the Moorlands Estate, Brixton.

Lambeth was the first local authority to set up a forum that allows the public to hold police to account when the CPCG was set up after the 1981 Brixton Riots.

The Brixton Blog will tweet live from the Town Hall, and a full report will be available shortly afterwards. The meeting begins in Room 8 at 6pm tonight.
