Brixton features in TV crime series

Tonight’s (5 March) episode of Marcella, the British TV crime series created by Hans Rosenfeldt of The Bridge fame, will have scenes familiar to South Londoners and Brixton people in particular.

In its eight episodes, Evelyn Grace Academy and the Tube station will be seen and the Marcus Lipton building in Minet Road buildings features as a foodbank.

Location company FilmFixer manages the film office service for Lambeth, Southwark, Camden and Islington where much of the series was filmed between July and October last year.

Director Andrew Pavord said: “We’re really pleased that Southwark and Lambeth in particular are so able to help out with shows like this.”

The production was able to find two separate flats on Lambeth housing estates to accommodate scenes in and around the home of sister and brother characters Gail and Eric.

Evelyn Grace plays the school of Marcella’s son Edward and in tonight’s episode she visits for an arts event.

CCTV footage of murder victim Luke and his friend Andrew saying goodbye was shot outside Brixton Tube.

The production made donations to residents’ association in the London estates used in the filming.
